Golden, CO...Thursday...

I am so great at taking self-portraits I astound myself and everyone around me!

Today we taught our last workshops, set up the lights, got our fourth coffee of the week (the people at Buffalo Moon know our drinks already), and ate at an American-German restaurant.

That's right, American-German. The cafe is run by Helena and Wolfgang. She waited on us while he cooked, and both of their accents are so thick! She said she would make snitzel "like mama would make" and called everyone sweetheart. "You want I should take your picture?" There were some funny photos on their wall, ( I couldn't resist)and some great ones of Austria and such.
There is the neatest aquarium in the school. It's full of salmon!
We rehearsed with the entire set tonight, and the kids are excited about the show...they just have a little trouble remembering their entrances and lines...

I had fun playing games with the skunks while they waited patiently for the rest of the show to get organized. One more day before show day!!!!

And it's below freezing here! Lots of snow. We've been using another vehicle since ours is two wheel drive. Thanks for your faithful viewing! Tune in next time for..."The Same Show in a Different Town!"

Our Second Week Out

We are now in Golden, Colorado, home of the mountains, wind, and more cute coffee shops. This week we are living in a renovated barn. It's our own little home away from home...above the horse stalls.

Trixie is one of our neighbors, and is 8 months pregnant, due in March.

Dusty is our other neighbor, and is Arabian. He wouldn't let me touch him. Finicky.
A rather askew view of our living room. There is a gas fire place, and very limited wireless access.
Steve is working on reports in our kitchen. The stairs lead up to the coldest room in the house, which also happens to be Steve's. It's sometimes colder inside that room than it is outside...
Our purple curtained bathroom...
And finally...my very own bedroom! I'm not really sure why there are two beds...I'm really not that fat...
We have a busy week ahead of us with nine workshops ontop of regular rehearsals, but as long as I have my coffee, everyone shall survive!

Auditions...

Auditions are over! We auditioned over eighty children this afternoon and selected our cast. The decisions were tough to make, as we had several talented kids. They are all so...full of energy! It was their first day back from Christmas break, so you can imagine...
After casting, I worked with Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham, both of whom are being played by girls. A lot of hard work goes into these roles, and I realized just how much I need to know and have prepared. I don't just need to know my lines...I need to know my lines, their lines, everyone else's lines, where they enter, exit, etc. Give me a couple more weeks, and I should be set...
We ate lunch at the cutest little cafe today. It made me miss the Break Espresso, as I sat there sipping my soy chai. After auditions, we opted for a cheap dinner at Quiznos. Ah, eating so healthy! Notice the name of my little "samwich"...

Here Goes...

Here I am, my first week out, and already it has been an adventure! The roads were covered w/snow when we left Missoula, and it didn't take long before we happened upon a couple of discombobulated semi trucks. Once we made it past Deer Lodge, we had pretty clear weather.

We made it to Denver Monday afternoon and spent the day getting settled in. Great Mexican food! ;.) I spent the last hour trying to tune some poor kid's guitar, and just made it worse. Yikes. But he was gracious and let me mess around with it. Turns out I know his cousins from Missoula.

This is my first gift basket and my first very comfy bed. The folks I'm staying with fixed it up all purty for me, and I'm enjoying the snacks. Very healthy ones, I might add.
Tomorrow we go to the school and audition the students. So exciting! Might be unavailable for the next couple of days...
